Hand Analysis: What Your Hands Reveal
Your hands are a map of your mind. Hand analysis is a holistic path to self-understanding, drawing on psychology, scientific research and spirituality.
Chirology (from the Greek chiro, hand, and ology, the study of) is the modern, structured form of hand analysis, and what many people know as palmistry. It examines and interprets the many dimensions and features of the hand, including its shape, lines, fingers and fingerprints, to enhance self-understanding, awareness and holistic wellbeing.

How can hand analysis help me?
Hand analysis is like reading somebody’s blueprint. It gives a deep and wide-ranging picture of your character, temperament and psychology, based on the features of your hands.
This makes it a unique tool: it doesn’t require meeting you face to face, it doesn’t require “getting to know you” and it doesn’t require multiple sessions and lots of time.
It is a structured, observation-based method that allows you to understand yourself better. Ever wondered:
Why you are the way you are?
How to improve your life?
What things you could change to benefit you?
How to avoid repeating mistakes?
What your greatest strengths are and how to use them?
We are not always consciously aware of our own thought patterns and why we are the way we are, but your hands can offer a surprising reflection of them.
When you have your hands read, you receive a detailed map of yourself. You can then find answers to your questions, navigate your own life better and feel more confident in yourself, all in just one hour.
How can your hands tell you so much?
The hands are closely linked to the brain: a disproportionately large area of the brain’s motor cortex is devoted to the hands.
- The palmar lines begin forming in the womb, in the same early window in which the brain and nervous system are being laid down, so they are thought to reflect early neurological development.
- The shape, size and proportions of the hand are influenced by hormones, including hormone exposure before birth.
- Fingerprints and finger lengths have been studied for their links to brain development, temperament and behaviour.

How did modern chirology develop?
Late 19th century: Early investigations into the hands saw chirologists exploring correlations between certain hand features and people’s behaviour. At the same time, the scientific community witnessed the emergence of a new science: dermatoglyphics, the study of fingerprints.
Early 20th century: Prominent figures such as Julius Spier began exploring the relationship between the hands and personality and character traits. However, relating the hands to psychology was still in its early stages.
1940s: Medical professionals, including Charlotte Wolff, conducted studies on the hands in relation to mental health and psychological disorders, reporting significant correlations between hand features and mental wellbeing. This marked a crucial period for bringing the hands into medical research.
Late 20th century: More complex scientific and empirical research was conducted into the hands, particularly into dermatoglyphics (fingerprints), palmar lines and digit ratio (finger length) in relation to physical and mental health conditions. Various schools of chirology and hand analysis were established, building on earlier work.
21st century: Scientific research into the hands continues, with studies reporting statistical associations between hand features and psychological and neurodevelopmental conditions, including schizophrenia, autism, ADHD and intellectual disabilities. Palmar lines are linked to the nervous system, fingerprints to brain development, and finger lengths to hormones. Research into hand shape, lines, fingers and prints continues to offer detailed insights into both psychology and physiology. What about my health?
In my experience, the hands can reveal a great deal about health and wellbeing, often showing tendencies and imbalances early on. Digestive difficulties, low energy and chronic fatigue, cardiovascular strain, and depression or anxiety are among the patterns chirologists learn to recognise in the hand, and they can show up in many different ways, reflecting the variety of physical, psychological and emotional causes behind them.
This part of chirology rests on practical observation gathered by hand analysts over many years, and it has not yet been tested through formal peer-reviewed research. For that reason I present it as an indication, not a diagnosis: a reading can highlight areas that are worth paying attention to, but it is not a medical diagnosis, as with many holistic therapies.

Thick and heavy lines, in my experience showing an over-stimulated, heavily taxed system. Caffeine, sugar or alcohol intake is worth looking at.

An allergy line together with a weak life line. In my experience this pattern points to digestive sensitivity, with tiredness a common complaint.

Small dots on the heart line, which in my experience can be an early indication of circulatory strain. An indication to check, not a diagnosis.
